DMX EQUIPMENT HIRE
DMX 512-1990 commonly referred to as ’DMX’ is the most common system for transferring control signals from one item of equipment to another. It is widely used to control dimmers, many lights, colour changers and other effects.
The DMX signal is transferred between equipment using either 3 or 5 pin XLR cable. DMX eliminates the need for multicore control cables. DMX information can also be sent by radio links.
Equipment can be daisy chained or controlled by using a splitter sending out individual cables. The last device in any control should be terminated using a DMX terminator, this reduces the risk of data reflection errors.
